Christmas season has finally started !! you better believe I have been listening to all the Christmas songs (hymns) ALL week !!

good news- leka got baptized yesterday !! she is the absolute sweetest & she is brilliant. she is fluent in marshallese and English and soon chinese because her mother is marshallese and her father is chinese. there are the sweetest little family ever, definitely one of the MANY blessings of my mission.

story time- after Leka's baptism elder samano forgot to pull the plug in the font & we realized that when we came back to the church later that night. so we knew at that point we needed to unplug it, so I grabbed the tool to unplug it and may have accidentally dropped it in the font. then we knew the only tool we had was my arm so I went down to grab it and soon realized my face would need to go underwater to reach the plug. I was wearing a sweater over my dress so sister hassler told me to throw it to her so at least that didn't get wet. so I threw it to her and it landed in the font. yeah not good. so I go down to unplug it and it keeps failing so I had to do it like 4 times and at this point I am completely wet. sad news is we had to bike home & it was raining and freezing. so we tried to dry off as well as possible which didn't work at all the tricky part was there were 5 elders in the church and we didn't want them to know so we snuck around the church for anything that could keep us a little warmer and we found a jacket somewhere. so we grabbed it and on our way out the door the zone leaders yell hey what are you doing? & I was like dang it so close. good news- they didn't notice somehow but found out we were biking home so they gave us their suit jackets. so nice of them. so at this point we have got quite the outfit going on. wet dress, random jacket from the church & a suit jacket. but needless to say, the bike ride home was very cold, indescribably cold. but it was a victory because nobody found out.

mini story- I was told to put peppermint oil on my forehead because it feels good & I rubbed my eyes and got a bit in there, I dont think my eyes have ever cried so much.

thought- I was studying this week in 2 Nephi 4 & that chapter brings me so much encouragement and peace. Nephis humility and diligence is a huge example to. I love that he says, "why should my heart weep and my soul linger in the valley of sorrow, and my flesh waste away, and my strength slacken, because of mine afflictions?" that really stood out to me because ultimately Nephi is realized with the atonement and with Jesus Christ he doesnt need to feel that way. following that verse he goes on to say, "awake, my soul! no longer droop in sin. rejoice, o my heart, and give place no more dor the enemy of my soul." I love that he turns his sorrow of inadequacy and shame into joy for Jesus Christ. he allows the joy for the atonement of Jesus Christ to be his motivator as opposed to his sadness of sin or trial. Heavenly Father sent us here knowing we would make mistakes. following those mistakes, being motivated to change by the joy of the Savior's sacrifice is an important piece. I am so grateful for Nephi's example to me !!
