Shoulder to Shoulder

Not gonna lie, probably one of the craziest weeks of my life. Little update, I got put in a trio today with Sister Gordon and Sister Woolley and we are over the Woodhaven and the Louisville YSA areas! They are fantastic and I love them so so much!! Its going to be a SOLID next 4ish weeks. Also I literally saw the cutest little puppy this week, highlight. PLUS, I've obviously experienced rain before but Sister Woolley and I experienced quite the rain. I felt like I was standing under a waterfall for a couple minutes and it was raining on the waterfall and then someone was standing at the top dumping buckets down the waterfall, it was so so fantastic. Okay and last highlight of the week, we got panda and ate it outside of the temple and now I think I know what heaven might just be like. One thing I was studying still this week was opposition. 2 Corinthians 12:10 says, "Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distress for Chr...

The Blessed Struggle

Definitely many changes this week!! I'm still here in good old beautiful woodhaven but Sister West has left sadly:( howeverrrrrr I got a new companion, Hermana Patterson!! She's from Louisiana and she's been serving in Ecuador for the past couple months but has been reassigned here due to all virus stuff and whatnot. She's a way good cook so she's been eating good out here. This week was full of lots of change of course. Change and uncertainty can be real uncomfy but thank goodness for the foundation our Savior can provide for us. Moroni 7:3 says, "the peaceable followers of Christ, and that have obtained a sufficient hope by which ye can enter into the rest of the Lord, from this time henceforth until ye shall rest with him in heaven." This verse is amazing!! Times of uncertainty and times of trial will always come but rest in and with the Lord is always available to us. He is continually reaching out to us even when we feel far away. God doesn't pr...

Concerning Faith

Image
One thing that has really been on my mind this week has been faith. Faith can be a really hard thing for me sometimes. This week I have kind of been questioning why the words of God have been given to us the way that they have been given. 3 Nephi 26:11 says, "Behold, I was about to write them, all which were engraved upon the plates of Nephi, but the Lord forbade it, saying: I will try the faith of my people." A test of faith is so crucial. Without being tested we could not progress and without progressing we lose the joy found through progression and the ability to return to our Heavenly home. Part of the definition of faith includes having confidence in something or someone. Jesus Christ has over and over revealed His true character including attributes of love, mercy, gratitude, diligence, and many more to their fullest. As we put our trust in our Savior who has been the perfect example to us we can continually progress to becoming like Him. Faith leads us to act. I've...

Forget Him Not

Image
This week my dreams came true. For the past few weeks I have been trying to lure a squirrel into our apartment but I have not been successful. Slowly I have been feeding him saltines everyday and this week he finally came in for just a couple seconds!! Baby steps but he will like us eventually. Also, people are apparently getting REALLY desperate because I cut two Sister's hair this week with kitchen scissors and I have definitely never cut hair before. We have a super busy day so I don't have too much time but I was reading a really good talk this week titled Forget Me Not by Dieter F. Uchtdorf. In it he says, "Forget not to be patient with yourself. Forget not the difference between good and foolish sacrifices. Forget not to be happy now. Forget not the why of the gospel. Forget not the Lord loves you." I LOVE that so much because Heavenly Father has given us time right now to remember these crucial things. My favorite line is forget not to be happy now. One thing...
