The Keemem

Not even kidding, probably the best week of my mission & life. emmantata ippa!! I always wish I could explain in words why the best weeks are the best weeks but I can't write down those special feelings & experiences in words. We had a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to a marshallese keemem!! a keemem is a baby's first birthday & it is the biggest celebration in marshallese culture. everybody told me it was a large celebration but it blew my mind. we got there and there were over 500 marshallese people there just gathered in this park dancing & singing together!! it was a dream. the four of us were the only ripelles there & we definitely stuck out. but in marshallese culture they have very high respect for preachers & missionaries so they set us at this table in the very front that was filled w/ food & they were the kindest to us & they didn't even know us. they "tried" to teach us how to dance & we were able to spend the ...

Another stellar week out here in Evansville !! so many miracles this week! miracle #1- this week we were going to visit a woman that we had heard wasn't very nice so we walked up to her house and there was a boy on the porch & we said iakwe and his eyes lit up and he goes wow come in SO we went in & started talking to 3 of the sweetest teenage girls & then we asked if their parents were their and they were sleeping so we said we would come by another day. as we were leaving we ran into two people from a school that said excuse me did you just come from there because we need help & sister hassler says, "do you need a translator?" & they said, "yes that is exactly what we need!!" so we went back and helped and then the mom came out & the kids & so we asked if we could share a quick message w/ them & they said yes!! so we shared ether 12:27 and talked about how the Savior can strengthen us & make our weak things strong & they...

Story #1- we were at one of our friends houses & I was playing w/ her little barely 2 year old nephew & he discovered the freckle on my hand and was really try to clean it off because he thought my hand was dirty. at one point he left & I thought he gave up but then a couple minutes later he comes back with a huge towel completely wet dragging it across the floor so he could wash my freckle off my hand. super cute little guy (he is the one in the video at the bottom) I LOVE him !! Story #2- we were visiting one of our friends and I walked past a dog that looked very sad and abused & I was like dang I really wish I had some food to get him to come to me because he was scared. lucky enough the elders car was there because they were visiting the person on the other side of the street & surely the elders have got to have food in their car. so we walk up there and lucky enough the car was unlocked!! & low and behold there was a giant steak on a plate just waiting for...

iakwe aelop! funny story- the other day we were biking to someone's house through a park & these kids came up to us and one said, "can I get your snapchat?" and I looked @ my comp very confused and whispered, "what's snapchat?".... so that was embarrassing, kinda forgot what snapchat was. I got to go on an exchange w the hermanas this week which I LOVED!! we went to visit this woman & she was SO cool. she was kind of telling us her life story & her conversion story and she said so many times, "see look, I am so much smarter when I am not on cocaine." & it kinda made me laugh but I also loved it so so much !! she was so open about the mistakes she's made a recognized fully the blessings God gave her as she followed his commandments. and I loved it because we all have that thing that keeps us from being (spiritually) smarter. so she was a super cool example to me !! I was studying charity this week & charity in marshallese is ...
